There is a free mind mapping program that runs on Windows, Linux and <span class="caps">OS X</span>, called Freemind. You can get it at <a href="http://freemind.sourceforge.net">http://freemind.sourceforge.net</a></p> <p>I use it all the time in my work, to take notes while interviewing clients.
