"Wake up!

If you knew for certain you had a terminal illness--if you had little time left to live—

you would waste precious little of it! Well, I'm telling you...you do have a terminal illness: It's called birth.

You don't have more than a few years left. No one does!

So be happy now, without reason--or you will never be at all."

~ Dan Millman, 21st century philosopher

from The Way of the Peaceful Warrior

WAKE UP!!!

News flash: We’re not going to live forever.

Do you want to be looking back at your life in ten or twenty years and wonder why you didn’t do what you knew you should have done?!!?

Right.

Neither do it.

So, let’s wake up and live, eh?

Fun.

Funny, I have read Gurdjieff and the writings of his top student Ospensky so that I could figure out how to stop sleep walking through life. I also read lots of psychology books so that I could counter any hidden unconscious or subconscious purposes that might be keeping me asleep at the wheel. And last I studied Buddhism for three years as part of a a Sangha group to awaken my spirit as Buddha did. By the way Budda means the awakened one. So to have Millman simply say wake up I’m gonna die I wonder what kind of awake does he mean. What I’m saying is I consider this issue of sleepwalking through life to be a major issue in our lives and it seems Millman is saying just stop this nonsense and wake up and everything will be all better as though that was all it took was a few words.

Anyone who’s intrigued, inspired, mystified, or even slightly curious about Dan Millman’s writings should check out this cool new hybrid recording that was produced. It features his spoken word weaved within the framework of some gorgeous, heartfelt music. I bought it and it brings me centredness and peace more and more with each listen. One of their comments on the site says “a tool one can truly use at sunrise and sunset…” I couldn’t agree more.
Check it out and spread it around for more peace in the world:
